Scientist Bacteriology (AI)

Location: Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, United States; onsite laboratory-based role. US and Puerto Rico residents only.

Salary: $85,500–$123,500 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, execute, troubleshoot, qualify, and validate functional antibody and serological immunoassays.
• Establish serum bactericidal assays using Human Complement and Baby Rabbit Complement for clinical endpoint testing.
• Interpret immune-response data while maintaining data quality, timeline adherence, SOP compliance, and regulatory standards.
• Integrate automation technologies to improve assay throughput, consistency, and reproducibility.
• Support multiple concurrent vaccine development programs involving bacteria, viruses, and potentially infectious human samples in BSL-2 or BSL-2+ environments.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior scientists and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a biological science and at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and at least 3 years, or a PhD and at least 1 year.
• Experience designing, executing, and troubleshooting functional immunoassays, preferably for bacterial pathogens.
• Expertise in functional immunoassays, especially serum bactericidal assays.
• Experience with bacterial culture methods, growth optimization, and Human Complement and Baby Rabbit Complement.
• Experience working in regulated laboratory environments with quality systems, GxP guidelines, SOPs, LIMS, and reagent qualification.
• Ability to work onsite in Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, United States.
