Senior Scientist, Culture Process Development (Biotechnology)

Location: Andover, Massachusetts, United States; on-premise. Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the United States. Occasional weekend work and travel may be required.

Annual base salary: $93,600–$156,000, plus a 12.5% bonus target and eligibility for a share-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Design and execute experiments in bench-top bioreactors and scale-down models to develop robust, high-yield, scalable manufacturing processes.
• Lead upstream technical activities and support technology transfer to pilot and GMP manufacturing facilities.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing campaigns and collaborate with production, clinical, pilot, and commercial facilities.
• Document experimental data in electronic lab notebooks and author technical reports and regulatory submission content for INDs and BLAs.
• Participate in experimental design, data interpretation, and project team discussions.
• Perform occasional weekend cell culture tasks and attend occasional internal meetings or external conferences.

Requirements

• PhD with 0–3 years of biotechnology or biopharmaceutical industry experience, or a master’s degree with 7+ years of post-graduate experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of experience in a relevant field.
• Experience developing and characterizing scalable mammalian cell culture processes for therapeutic production, including process intensification, continuous manufacturing, and scale-up or scale-down.
• Understanding of mammalian-cell metabolic pathways and process kinetics.
• Competence in aseptic laboratory techniques, complex experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation.
• Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and project-driving skills in a matrixed environment.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Expertise in perfusion bioreactor operations and mammalian cell culture troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with high-throughput bioreactor platforms such as ambr15 and ambr250.
• Experience with process modeling, CFD, multivariate data analysis, and AI/ML-based predictive modeling.
• Python programming, workflow automation, software or application development, advanced analytics, visualization, and experimental design tools.
