Senior Associate Scientist, Viral Vaccines

Location: On premise in Pearl River, New York, United States. Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S. by any employer. U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and eligibility.

Annual base salary: $68,600–$114,300, plus eligibility for a 7.5% bonus target.

What you will do

• Support preclinical evaluation and early clinical development of mRNA and protein-based viral vaccines.
• Perform immunoassays to analyze immune responses, including cell culture, neutralization assays, functional antibody assays, Luminex, and ELISAs in BSL-2 environments.
• Generate, characterize, and track critical reagents for preclinical bio-functional studies.
• Assist with assay development and train analysts on established technologies.
• Analyze, interpret, and present experimental results at team meetings.
• Maintain laboratory notebooks, complete required training, and stay current with scientific literature and laboratory technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in biological engineering, biological sciences, chemistry, physical sciences, or a related discipline with 3–5 years of relevant laboratory research experience, or a master's degree with 0–3 years of experience.
• Basic laboratory skills in cell-based assays, experimental design, and interpretation of results.
• Ability to work effectively on highly visible research programs with time-constrained milestones.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and a dedicated work ethic.
• Proficiency with Excel, GraphPad Prism, PowerPoint, and relevant scientific software.
• Basic aseptic technique training and the ability to work safely with infectious agents.

Nice to have

• Pharmaceutical or biotech vaccine research experience.
• Experience handling infectious agents such as respiratory viruses and working with adherent or suspension cell lines.
• Independent development and troubleshooting of antibody-functionality bioassays.
• Experience generating protocols with the Bravo Automated Liquid Handling Platform.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel formulas and functions.
