Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote from Guadalajara, Mexico

What you will do

• Own the technical vision and roadmap for an AI Context Layer built from knowledge graphs, RAG engines, retrieval infrastructure, and governed data products.
• Work with feature teams and data engineering to define context-layer data requirements, dependencies, and platform capabilities.
• Design access control and RBAC for multi-tenant data, agent identity, and fine-grained permissions.
• Define scalable APIs, SDKs, and developer interfaces for interacting with the platform.
• Lead architecture discussions, design and code reviews, and technical standards for data modeling, storage, retrieval, and governance.
• Support hiring, documentation, onboarding, and platform adoption across the organization.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, especially with data-layer or search and retrieval infrastructure.
• Production experience designing knowledge graphs and/or large-scale retrieval and search systems.
• Deep expertise in RAG architectures, vector databases, embedding-based retrieval, evaluation, quality tuning, and relevance optimization.
• Strong understanding of access control and RBAC in multi-tenant, data-rich environments.
• Experience designing developer-facing APIs and SDKs, plus familiarity with data governance, lineage, and auditability.
• Experience with Python and/or Java and the ability to lead complex technical initiatives across engineering, product, data, and leadership.
