MiFID Private Banking Control Specialist

Location: Madrid (Vía de los Poblados), with a hybrid arrangement combining office work at ING MAD and work from home

What you will do

• Execute transaction-level and portfolio-level MiFID controls for private banking investment services.
• Monitor suitability, target market, sustainability preferences, client investment profiles, and portfolio alignment with contractual limits.
• Review client-initiated transactions and potential circumvention of MiFID controls.
• Verify the delivery and archiving of suitability reports, KIDs, and supporting evidence.
• Analyse exceptions, identify root causes, coordinate remediation, and escalate material or recurring issues.
• Produce auditable control reporting, collaborate with business and control functions, and support automation and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of MiFID II, investor protection principles, and suitability requirements.
• Experience in Private Banking, Wealth Management, Investment Services, Risk, Controls, Compliance, or a related function.
• Strong analytical skills, including identifying trends, exceptions, and root causes in large datasets.
• Experience with reporting, data analysis, and control monitoring tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business actions.
• Fluent English required; Spanish is highly valued.

Nice to have

• Experience in MiFID controls, suitability monitoring, investment advisory, discretionary portfolio management, or product governance.
• Recognised MiFID certification such as EFPA, CFA, CISI, or equivalent.
• Experience designing or improving control frameworks, governance processes, or regulatory reporting.
• Knowledge of Spanish regulations and proficiency in Spanish.
