Senior Counsel, Legal – AI Governance, Data Privacy, & Cybersecurity (AI): Leading global AI governance, data privacy, cybersecurity, and insider threat programs with an accent on multi-jurisdictional legal advice, responsible AI, and regulatory compliance. Focus on designing sustainable governance processes, assessing breach reporting obligations, advising on privacy contracts, and coordinating cross-functional responses to sensitive legal and security issues.
Location: Leatherhead, Surrey, United Kingdom; hybrid work

What you will do
- Lead and maintain the global AI Governance program, advising on AI-specific laws including the EU AI Act.
- Maintain the global Data Privacy program and advise on privacy requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Advise on vendor and customer contracts and lead responses to data subject requests.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity professionals to assess legal risks and data breach reporting obligations.
- Support the global insider threat program and coordinate responses to potential insider threat situations.
- Coordinate cross-functional attorneys, cyber risk professionals, Human Resources, management, IT, and outside counsel.
Requirements
- Law degree and admission to practice in the UK or an EU member state.
- Relevant post-qualification legal experience and comprehensive expertise in AI, data privacy, and cybersecurity laws across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 27701 or a similar data privacy framework, with working knowledge of ISO 27001 or related frameworks.
- Experience designing and implementing sustainable processes and tools, managing change, and influencing senior stakeholders across functions and countries.
- Ability to provide concise, business-focused legal advice and manage outside counsel effectively.
- Track record of using approved AI systems to improve effectiveness and productivity.
Nice to have
- Experience with the EU AI Act, AI governance, information governance, data mapping, or records retention.
- Experience with internal investigations, employment law, intellectual property law, or litigation.
- CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPP/A, CIPM, or AIGP certification.
