Principal Machine Learning Engineer (AI-ML Data Scientist - ADEM)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States. Most teams work from the office full time.

Salary: $163,200–$264,000 per year base salary. Additional compensation may include restricted stock units and a bonus.

What you will do

• Design and implement ML, LLM, and GenAI-powered agents with planning, multi-step execution, self-correction, and human or agent collaboration.
• Build reasoning pipelines, RAG retrieval systems, and knowledge graph integrations for autonomous task execution and network troubleshooting.
• Build, fine-tune, and adapt LLMs, multimodal models, specialized agent models, and traditional statistical models for endpoint telemetry.
• Develop solutions from prototype to production with strong scalability, reliability, safety, observability, and performance.
• Establish practices for prompt design, agent memory, tool usage, and context optimization.
• Evaluate agent frameworks, LLM tooling, and generative AI technologies to guide platform architecture and roadmap decisions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience deploying production-grade ML, GenAI, or agentic workflows at scale.
• Strong Python skills for AI/ML and professional Go or Java experience for backend microservices.
• Experience with SQL, BigQuery schema design and restructuring, and scalable data pipelines using Dataflow, Google ADK, and GKE.
• Understanding of RAG, prompt engineering, model evaluation, and statistical modeling.
• Ability to build platform-level services integrating with adjacent ecosystems such as Prisma Access and Cortex.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
