Staff Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, USA

Base salary: $172,200–$283,900 per year, depending on the work location and experience. The role may also include equity awards and participation in company incentive plans.

What you will do

• Set the technical vision and architecture for an end-to-end ML platform, covering data ingestion, semantic layers, feature stores, model registries, evaluation, and serving.
• Build production models for user acquisition cost, lifetime value, return on ad spend, market demand, and other commercial outcomes.
• Design calibrated predictions, forecasting systems, ranking logic, portfolio recommendations, and feedback loops that measure realized outcomes and correct bias.
• Develop online experimentation with guardrails, safe exploration, and clear human decision points.
• Build evaluation harnesses for LLM-based agents, including automated playtesting and multimodal assessment of generated content.
• Lead technical direction, mentor engineers across disciplines, and collaborate with product and expert teams to translate human judgment into training signals.

Requirements

• Production machine learning experience owning systems end to end, from data to serving and measured business outcomes.
• Deep experience with performance marketing or ad-tech modeling, including acquisition cost, lifetime value, return on ad spend, or retention prediction.
• Strong knowledge of probabilistic prediction, calibration, quantile or interval prediction, coverage, bias correction, and forecast backtesting.
• Production experience with LLM-based agent systems, including orchestration, evaluation harnesses, prompt and model versioning, and cost control.
• Strong Python and modern ML tooling skills, with fundamentals across relational databases, columnar analytics stores, and event streams.
• Professional English proficiency is required for frequent verbal and written communication with colleagues and partners worldwide.

Nice to have

• Experience with mobile game user acquisition, LiveOps, monetization, game engines, or automated playtesting.
• Time-series and demand forecasting experience using noisy, multi-source market signals.
• Experience with Claude Agent SDK, Codex, or similar multi-agent software production frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with BigQuery, ClickHouse, Kafka, Postgres, pgvector, or equivalent technologies.
• Publications or open-source contributions in forecasting, causal inference, calibration, or agentic systems.
