Principal Machine Learning Engineer (GenAI)

What you will do

• Own enterprise AI/ML architecture, technical standards, APIs, and safety guardrails across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Build production machine-learning and generative-AI solutions, end-to-end ML pipelines, and lightweight applications delivering sub-second insights.
• Develop full-stack AI applications by integrating model services with user interfaces, workflow engines, and business-logic layers.
• Establish observability, SLOs, safe deployment strategies, incident runbooks, evaluation frameworks, drift detection, and automated retraining.
• Architect LLM/RAG solutions with prompt management, safety controls, optimized inference, data lineage, and privacy-preserving techniques.
• Translate R&D, manufacturing, and commercial needs into technical roadmaps while mentoring teams and communicating engineering trade-offs.

Requirements

• Doctorate plus 2 years, master’s plus 6 years, bachelor’s plus 8 years, associate’s plus 10 years, or high school diploma/GED plus 12 years of machine-learning engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of people management or leadership experience directing teams, projects, programs, or resource allocation.
• Strong knowledge of machine-learning algorithms, deep-learning architectures, LLMs, RAG techniques, and production model operationalization.
• Expertise with vector databases, RAG pipelines, prompt-engineering DSLs, and agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.
• Proficiency in Python and Java, Docker/Kubernetes, a major cloud platform, and modern DevOps/MLOps tooling.
• Strong stakeholder management, business-case analysis, executive communication, analytical ability, and experience working with global virtual teams.

Nice to have

• Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience.
• Published thought leadership or conference presentations on enterprise generative-AI adoption.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or Data Science.
• Agile or Scaled Agile Framework experience and certifications on major GenAI/ML platforms.
