Head of Product Design (AI)

Location: On-site in San Diego, California; San Mateo, California; or Washington, D.C.

What you will do

• Lead customer research across product development, customer engagement, and solutions teams.
• Design end-to-end workflows for autonomy development, simulation, testing, analysis, deployment, and operations.
• Create intuitive experiences for autonomy engineers, software developers, operators, and mission planners.
• Shape AI-assisted workflows, agent orchestration, scenario creation, test generation, and mission planning experiences.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, AI Research, and executive leaders on product vision, roadmaps, and organizational alignment.
• Establish design systems and UX standards while mentoring and growing a high-performing design team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, Human Factors, or a related field.
• Experience designing and shipping complex technical products, developer tools, platforms, infrastructure software, data-dense applications, or enterprise systems.
• Deep technical fluency and the ability to collaborate with senior engineering leaders on architecture and software development workflows.
• Strong experience with user research, product strategy, AI-powered product experiences, human-in-the-loop workflows, and agent-based systems.
• Experience influencing product direction, defining experiences in ambiguous technology spaces, and building high-performing design teams.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking and hands-on design execution.

Nice to have

• Experience with developer platforms, SDKs, cloud infrastructure, DevOps tooling, engineering productivity tools, AI/ML platforms, MLOps, copilots, or agentic systems.
• Familiarity with autonomy, robotics, simulation, digital twins, mission systems, physical AI, or related development workflows.
• Experience designing command-and-control systems, mission-planning interfaces, operational dashboards, real-time decision-support tools, or integrated hardware/software systems.
• Exposure to defense technology, aerospace, robotics, or other regulated and mission-critical environments.
