TL;DR
Financial Analyst, Licensing (Royalty Management): Managing, analyzing, and reporting royalty revenues and expenses across a global portfolio of brands, products, and partnerships with an accent on licensing contract interpretation, royalty calculations, and financial forecasting. Focus on reconciling payments, developing revenue and expense models, resolving discrepancies, and supporting audits and licensing strategy.

Location: The Met Fifth Avenue, New York, NY; employees must live within commuting distance in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania

Salary: $90,000–$100,000 annually

What you will do

  • Calculate, validate, and report royalty revenues and expenses across a global licensing portfolio.
  • Review licensing agreements and apply royalty rates, guarantees, advances, deductions, and payment terms.
  • Prepare royalty accruals, settlements, invoices, payment schedules, and recurring financial reports.
  • Investigate discrepancies involving reported sales, usage metrics, royalty calculations, and payments.
  • Develop forecasts, annual planning models, and ad hoc analyses for licensing revenues, expenses, and deal assumptions.
  • Support royalty audits and collaborate with licensors, licensees, auditors, and internal stakeholders on contract compliance and performance recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–4 years of experience in financial analysis, royalty accounting, licensing finance, revenue accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling, and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and contractual financial terms.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must be located within commuting distance in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania.

Nice to have

  • Experience in media, entertainment, publishing, consumer products, software, gaming, retail, fashion, sports, or intellectual property-based businesses.
  • Knowledge of royalty management systems and ERP platforms such as Workday and BrandComply.
  • CPA, CFA, or progress toward certification.
