Senior Software Engineer (Java)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and scale Java backend services, distributed systems, and APIs.
• Own features end to end, including architecture, coding, testing, observability, and deployment.
• Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and operational practices.
• Work in a cross-functional Agile environment and break complex technical initiatives into deliverable increments.
• Mentor associate and mid-level engineers and contribute to technical strategy.
• Participate in incident response and an on-call rotation scheduled for one week every five weeks.

Requirements

• Significant commercial experience with modern Java, with multiple projects and 5+ years of experience as a guide.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong object-oriented programming and system design skills, including scalable, resilient, and high-performance applications.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture or Domain-Driven Design, test-driven development, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, containerisation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or another high-throughput or regulated domain.
