TL;DR
Engineer in Charge (Broadcast Engineering): Leading the operation, maintenance, and live production readiness of mobile broadcast units with an accent on broadcast systems, IP networking, EVS equipment, and Calrec audio consoles. Focus on directing engineering crews, solving complex technical issues during high-pressure live events, and coordinating system builds, operations, troubleshooting, and teardown.

Location: Dallas, Texas, United States; extensive travel to live events, approximately 240 days per year; valid U.S. passport required

What you will do

  • Oversee technical and engineering operations for assigned mobile broadcast units at remote production sites.
  • Act as the primary on-site technical authority and client contact, communicating risks, changes, and solutions.
  • Lead show builds, system configuration, testing, live production operations, troubleshooting, and teardown.
  • Direct engineering crews, assign responsibilities, schedule personnel, and maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate equipment, staffing, logistics, maintenance, upgrades, repairs, and asset management.
  • Complete post-event technical reports and communicate show status, crew needs, and operational changes to management.

Requirements

  • 4–5+ years of progressive experience in remote broadcast engineering or a related technical field.
  • Engineer in Charge-level leadership experience supervising technical teams and executing complex live productions.
  • Advanced knowledge of broadcast engineering, mobile television production, video, audio, graphics, cameras, routing, intercoms, and IP-based workflows.
  • Strong Layer 2/3 networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, multicast, VLANs, QoS, bandwidth management, and IP troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Magnum, VSM, Cerebrum, TFC, EVS equipment, Calrec audio consoles, and Grass Valley production switchers.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and a valid U.S. passport are required.
