Senior Software Engineer, Cluster Scalability (C++)

Location: Remote in the United States

Base salary: $126,000–$248,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Build core distributed infrastructure that enables database workloads to scale beyond a single node.
• Design and implement data-partitioning, data-movement, and dynamic-scaling capabilities.
• Develop protocols for moving and placing data without disrupting production workloads.
• Improve horizontal scaling, cluster elasticity, workload execution, and system performance.
• Resolve bugs, contribute to upcoming hirify.global releases, conduct code reviews, and participate in design reviews.
• Lead new feature development and mentor newer engineers as responsibilities grow.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building distributed systems.
• Production-level software development experience with C++ and a large user base.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, software design, and architecture, supported by a relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Understanding of modern computer architecture and internals sufficient to evaluate design decisions in a database system.
• Hands-on or academic experience with large-scale distributed systems and system design.
• Experience in at least one of high-performance networking, performance tuning, system observability, or system resiliency.
