Staff Electrical Engineer (Wearables)

Salary: $216,000–$255,000 per year for Region 1 (San Francisco)

What you will do

• Design electrical architectures, schematics, PCBs, flexes, and other electrical systems for future wearable and consumer devices.
• Define and execute rapid prototyping with off-the-shelf and custom hardware.
• Test, validate, troubleshoot, and profile electrical systems against performance and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with quality assurance, mechanical, firmware, industrial design, and interaction design teams.
• Create scripts and tools for hardware bring-up and automated testing.
• Help define product roadmaps, timelines, and technical priorities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing and shipping high-volume consumer electronics as a hardware systems integrator.
• Experience with ultra-low-power microprocessors, SoCs, MEMS sensors, wireless charging, custom analog and digital circuits, and signal processing.
• Strong knowledge of UART, I2C, MIPI, SPI, DSI, and other communication protocols.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium or KiCad.
• Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, custom quick-turn PCBs, laboratory equipment, high-density PCBs, flexes, batteries, and sensing modules.
• Ability to lead technical work independently, mentor others, communicate clearly, and collaborate across engineering and design disciplines.

Nice to have

• Experience with connected wearables, health and optical sensing, audio, and small form-factor products.
• Familiarity with BLE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, and 802.15.4.
• Ability to travel to Europe and Asia several times a year to visit vendors and colleagues.
• Familiarity with 3D printing and mechanical fabrication.
