Senior Trial Attorney (First Chair)

Location: New York, New York, United States; regular travel to courthouses throughout the New York metropolitan area and, as needed, upstate. Employment requires verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States.

Salary: USD 225,000–325,000 yearly

What you will do

• Serve as first chair in jury and bench trials in New York Supreme Court and applicable federal courts, from voir dire through verdict.
• Own a docket of high-exposure, trial-ready matters and set litigation strategy through resolution.
• Take and defend depositions, draft and argue dispositive and in limine motions, and handle court conferences and appearances.
• Prepare expert witnesses, clients, damages models, demonstrative evidence, and the trial record.
• Evaluate liability, damages, and settlement posture; represent the firm at mediations and settlement conferences.
• Mentor and supervise associate attorneys while maintaining clear client communication and accurate case documentation.

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission in good standing to the New York State Bar.
• At least eight years of civil litigation experience, including substantial trial-focused work.
• Verifiable experience trying cases to verdict as first chair or lead second chair.
• Command of the CPLR, New York trial practice, and New York rules of evidence.
• Extensive deposition experience with experts and adverse medical witnesses, plus strong written advocacy.
• Ability to travel to courthouses throughout the New York metropolitan area and, when needed, upstate.

Nice to have

• Plaintiff-side personal injury experience involving motor vehicle, premises liability, construction, or catastrophic injury matters.
• Seven-figure verdicts or settlements, or outcomes exceeding policy limits.
• Familiarity with New York No-Fault practice and lien resolution.
• Conversational or fluent Spanish, or experience serving a bilingual client base.
• Experience supervising junior litigators or membership in NYSTLA, AAJ, or a comparable trial bar organization.
