Systems Engineer IV – Systems (Aerospace)

Location: Folsom, California or Reno, Nevada; hybrid or remote within the United States. Travel up to 10–15% may be required, including overnight travel for customer reviews and test events.

Salary: $125,700–$173,700 USD for California; $119,415–$165,015 USD for Nevada. The position is incentive-plan eligible.

What you will do

• Lead the development, decomposition, maintenance, and traceability of system, subsystem, and interface requirements.
• Develop and execute system-level verification and validation plans, procedures, and compliance matrices.
• Plan and lead reviews, inspections, tests, and other system-level verification events.
• Assess technical risks, develop mitigation plans, and maintain risk-tracking documentation.
• Coordinate with propulsion, software, hardware, GNC, test, quality, and safety engineering teams to close requirements and verification activities.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for customers and suppliers, support planning and reporting, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related STEM field plus 7 years of relevant experience, or 11 years of systems engineering experience without a degree.
• Experience with Missile Defense Agency processes, CDRL development, and formal technical reviews.
• Proficiency with DOORS or an equivalent requirements-management tool.
• Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle standards including the INCOSE SE Handbook, MIL-STD-499, and EIA-632.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills for formal documentation, briefings, customer interaction, and executive communication.
• U.S. citizenship and U.S. Person status are required; applicants must have or be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance and comply with ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with reliability or system safety analyses.
• Experience developing and interpreting SysML diagrams in Cameo Systems Modeler or an equivalent MBSE tool.
