Accounts Payable Accountant, Capital Programs

Location: Hybrid in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, with 3 days per week on-site and willingness to report up to 5 days per week as required; United States

Salary: $89,000–$125,000 per year ($43–$60 per hour)

What you will do

• Review contractor and consultant invoices, progress payment applications, retention, change orders, and supporting documentation.
• Process vendor invoices, employee expenses, payroll documents, and voucher exceptions throughout the accounts payable cycle.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, financial statements, ledgers, schedules, and reconciliations for month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare 1099 adjustments, quarterly sales and use tax returns, cash receipt vouchers, and cash reconciliations.
• Prepare reimbursement support and financial reports for federal, state, and local funding agencies, including grant-funded expenditure reporting.
• Maintain capital-funded payment files, fixed-asset system inputs, audit-ready records, and financial management system accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 2 years of increasingly responsible professional accounting experience.
• Experience with accounts payable, complex invoices, expense reports, voucher exceptions, journal entries, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
• Knowledge of general, commercial, fund, and governmental accounting, budgeting principles, public fiscal regulations, payroll processing, and wage and benefit concepts.
• Experience using ERP or financial management systems such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, or SAP.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or Office 365, including Excel.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA, CGFM, or CAPP certification.
• Experience with capital construction programs, progress payments, retention, change orders, and large heavy-civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience with FTA or other federal and state grant-funded capital expenditures, governmental agencies, or GASB standards.
• Experience with Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics, or other KPI dashboard reporting software.
