Data Center Engineer

Location: On-site at data centers in the Chicago, Illinois area, United States. Tuesday–Saturday second shift, generally 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.; on-call, shift rotations, and US holiday coverage may be required.

Base salary: $102,850–$133,100 per year. A 10% shift differential may apply depending on the shift worked.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, rack, remove, and troubleshoot servers, network devices, storage systems, and associated cabling.
• Perform structured copper, multimode fiber, and single-mode fiber cabling, including testing, routing, labeling, and documentation.
• Execute large-scale Moves, Adds, and Changes, including equipment installations, relocations, rack upgrades, and cable upgrades.
• Monitor data center environmental conditions such as power, cooling, and temperature, escalating issues when necessary.
• Collaborate with Engineering and NOC teams to resolve hardware, application, and connectivity incidents using Jira.
• Support equipment rollouts, data center expansion projects, vendor coordination, shipping, RMAs, and onsite services.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data center support experience in colocation environments.
• Experience with server, storage, and network equipment, large-scale MAC work, and industry-standard cable testing tools.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, power, fire, building security, safety systems, telecommunications technologies, systems, and circuits.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer visa sponsorship.
• Must be willing to work onsite at Chicago-area data centers, different shifts, on-call rotations, and extended periods inside data center environments.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, work independently, manage multiple projects, and communicate with strong attention to detail.
