Critical Environments Operator IV (Data Center Operations)

What you will do

• Execute operations and maintenance activities for data center and assigned building systems while preserving critical-load reliability.
• Use the computerized maintenance management system to track preventive maintenance, reactive work, labor hours, and work orders.
• Provide Level 1 support for managed and non-managed Windows servers, including incident troubleshooting, reboots, hardware swaps, and new-customer setup.
• Install customer orders, including cabinets, cages, offices, cross-connects, cable testing, and circuit builds.
• Troubleshoot and certify copper and fiber cabling, perform circuit audits, and support network-management projects.
• Respond to alarms, perform critical switching and lockout/tagout activities, coordinate vendors and contractors, and support root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in Tier 2, Tier 3, or Tier 4 data centers, operations and maintenance, or building engineering.
• Journeyman-level electrical, mechanical, and HVAC/R skills gained through technical training, an associate degree, or facility-maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of network copper and fiber termination, reflectance, cable length, decibel loss, hand tools, and test equipment.
• Experience with CMMS and work-order control, subcontractor and vendor management, capacity planning, reporting, and key performance indicators.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment through graphical interfaces, respond to alarms, stabilize systems, and use Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability and willingness to work onsite for 24/7/365 operations, including extended hours during emergencies such as hurricanes.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Visio or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of the ITIL framework and service-level standards.
