AI-Native Development Intern

Location: Onsite at the Suntech office in Cybercity, Penang, Malaysia. Travel: None.

What you will do

• Build and improve AI-native features such as conversational experiences, summarization, classification, information extraction, and decision support.
• Prototype Generative AI solutions using prompt design, structured outputs, tool use, and lightweight evaluations.
• Develop RAG workflows by preparing documents, creating embeddings, managing metadata, and connecting to vector search services.
• Create scripts, APIs, and small services that connect applications with enterprise data sources and large language model endpoints.
• Use Python and SQL to prepare data, validate outputs, troubleshoot issues, and create datasets for AI features and reporting.
• Contribute to AI agents, evaluation approaches, documentation, testing, version control, code reviews, and basic CI/CD.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• Programming experience in Python or a similar language through coursework, projects, hackathons, or internships.
• Basic SQL knowledge, including SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY, data validation, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, Git, clean coding practices, and structured or unstructured data preparation.
• Exposure to Generative AI concepts including large language models, prompting, RAG, AI agents, safety, output evaluation, embeddings, vector search, and tool calling.
• Portfolio, Git repository, or project demonstration showing problem-solving and iterative learning.

Nice to have

• Experience with web or user-interface development for chat, assistant, dashboard, or workflow experiences.
• Awareness of containers, microservices, cloud services, CI/CD, logging, monitoring, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with CSV, JSON, Parquet, or basic ETL concepts.
