Sr. Lead Data Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Chicago, United States; full-time remote is also available. U.S. work authorization is required.

Salary: $140,000–$190,000 USD base annually. Total estimated compensation including annual incentive opportunity: $168,000–$228,000 USD.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and operate scalable data pipelines, APIs, services, workflows, and applications for healthcare analytics products.
• Translate business and analytical requirements into reliable, production-grade data solutions.
• Develop and test application code, troubleshoot issues, and improve platform performance, availability, and functionality.
• Define technical standards, architectural patterns, operational practices, and solution documentation.
• Work with product leadership, data engineers, and a Solution Architect on large-scale technical implementations.
• Provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to engineers and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• U.S. work authorization is required.
• Technical bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, or equivalent work experience.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• 6+ years of professional experience with Python, SQL, and cloud technologies such as AWS.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, software engineering discipline, and experience shipping production systems.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git or Subversion, plus strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with agile development and Scrum.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, dbt, Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, Spark, Athena, Glue, and healthcare data.
• Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation and UNIX-based operating systems.
• Experience with AWS services including CloudFront, API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Application Load Balancer, EC2, S3, and VPC.
• Knowledge of EDI and FHIR standards or analytics-driven applications.
