Strategic Finance Lead (Defense Tech)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year plus performance incentive; total compensation also includes equity.

What you will do

• Build and own the company financial model, planning processes, KPI dashboards, and management reporting.
• Support annual planning, quarterly reforecasting, monthly business reviews, and resource allocation decisions.
• Analyze production capacity, program economics, cost structure, working capital, capital expenditures, and investment tradeoffs.
• Prepare executive, board, investor, and fundraising materials from complex financial and operational inputs.
• Lead build-versus-buy analyses, hiring plans, and long-range growth initiatives.
• Improve finance systems and workflows using modern software, automation, SQL, and AI where useful.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or a similar analytical finance role.
• Exceptional financial modeling, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong business judgment and comfort making decisions with incomplete information.
• Experience partnering with executives and cross-functional technical, operational, and commercial leaders.
• Basic understanding of accounting, close processes, revenue recognition, and financial controls.
• Applicants must meet U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, or venture-backed operating finance.
• Experience in aerospace and defense technology or another technically and operationally complex environment.
• Experience with hardware-enabled business models, inventory, supply chain, production capacity, working capital, capital expenditures, and program profitability.
• Experience building finance systems, dashboards, planning tools, or BI workflows.
