TL;DR
ACPR State Manager (State Advocacy/Public Radio): Managing targeted state grassroots campaigns, advocacy plans, legislative materials, and policy communications supporting public radio stations with an accent on state policy monitoring, bipartisan lawmaker education, and stakeholder coordination. Focus on translating complex legislation and budgets into clear briefs, organizing advocacy visits, and building relationships across state-level advocacy networks.

Location: Hybrid role based in an hirify.global-supported location in the United States; required to work from the Washington, D.C. hirify.global office at least 3 days per year.

Salary: $115,000–$125,000 USD per year, plus benefits.

What you will do

  • Manage targeted state grassroots campaigns supporting public radio stations and coordinate advocacy capacity across assigned states and territories.
  • Develop tailored state advocacy plans, model legislation, one-pagers, formal testimony, and advocacy days with public radio stations.
  • Monitor state legislative and regulatory activity, including budget debates, hearings, and regulatory meetings.
  • Translate complex policy impacts and fiscal budgets into plain-language summaries, policy briefs, and talking points.
  • Plan and support legislative and administrative office tours and advocacy visits, including target identification and briefing materials.
  • Build relationships with state associations, grasstops stakeholders, coalition partners, and national stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in nonpartisan advocacy, state and local government, campaigns, or a related combination of experience.
  • Experience in government affairs or advocacy, preferably with a membership organization or trade association working across multiple states or stakeholder groups.
  • Experience producing communications or campaign deliverables and educating bipartisan lawmakers.
  • Clear writing skills for public radio leaders, public officials, stakeholders, and the general public.
  • Strong administrative and project management skills, plus proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.
  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Expertise in media, journalism, or local cultural institutions.
  • Experience with nonpartisan state and local campaign initiatives.
