2027 Summer Intern, Business Analyst (Reston, VA; Remote)

Location: Hybrid from Reston, Virginia, or remote from anywhere in the United States. All work must be performed in the US. Chicago, Illinois area is preferred. No housing or relocation assistance is provided.

Salary: $23 per hour. The stated pay range for full-time employment is $37,855–$64,354.

What you will do

• Gather, clarify, and document business, data, and system requirements with guidance from experienced team members.
• Create and update user stories, tasks, acceptance criteria, and supporting notes in Jira.
• Participate in stakeholder and technical meetings, recording decisions, questions, action items, and follow-ups.
• Maintain product and process documentation in Confluence, Word, Excel, or similar tools.
• Review system inputs, outputs, and data workflows and support Technical and QA teams with requirement clarifications.
• Track assigned tasks, communicate progress and risks, and participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Requirements

• US citizenship, US residence, and authorization to work in the US are required.
• All work must be performed in the United States.
• At least 30 completed college-level credit hours by the start date, preferably in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong oral, written, presentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders, ask questions, and solve technical issues.
• Interest in software, data, business operations, and technical requirements.

Nice to have

• Exposure to business analysis, requirements gathering, process mapping, data analysis, software testing, or project management through coursework or projects.
• Experience with Agile software development methodology.
• Understanding of programming, machine learning, cloud computing, software development life cycles, or process improvement.
