TL;DR
ACPR Federal Manager (Government Affairs and Advocacy): Building and executing federal advocacy strategies for public radio stations with an accent on Capitol Hill relationships, appropriations, legislative analysis, and LDA compliance. Focus on engaging bipartisan lawmakers, researching congressional and executive branch officials, and developing policy briefings, testimony, and advocacy materials.
Location: Hybrid in Washington, D.C.; office attendance required at least three days per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Must reside in an -supported U.S. location.
Salary: $132,000–$139,000 USD per year, plus benefits.

What you will do
- Build and maintain political networks across Capitol Hill and federal agencies while serving as a registered lobbyist.
- Manage LDA compliance activities and execute federal advocacy strategies supporting public radio stations.
- Track legislative, regulatory, and policy developments and brief internal leadership and coalition partners.
- Plan policy briefings, staff delegations, advocacy days, and meetings with congressional staff.
- Research Members of Congress and executive branch officials to inform political and advocacy strategies.
- Develop advocacy materials including hill blasts, factsheets, testimony, and blog posts with the communications and engagement team.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of experience in government affairs or advocacy.
- Experience working in Congress, especially the House of Representatives, or working on agriculture or Farm Bill issues.
- Established professional networks on Capitol Hill and experience navigating the federal appropriations process.
- Experience with nonpartisan advocacy initiatives and bipartisan lawmakers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.
Nice to have
- Experience creating programs and championing or adapting appropriations for member organizations or trade associations.
- Knowledge of local media ecosystems, emergency communications networks, rural development, or local cultural institutions.
