TL;DR
Senior Manager, Government Affairs and Policy (Government Affairs/Public Policy): Tracking and analyzing legislative, regulatory, and industry developments affecting NPR, with an accent on copyright, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, and privacy policy. Focus on building congressional and federal agency relationships, managing lobbying compliance, representing NPR before regulatory bodies, and developing nonpartisan advocacy strategies.
Location: Hybrid in Washington, D.C., United States; in-office attendance is required three days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The employee must reside in an -supported location.
Salary: $147,000–$165,000 USD annually, plus benefits.

What you will do
- Track, analyze, and brief leadership on legislative, regulatory, and industry developments affecting .
- Build relationships with congressional offices, federal agencies, associations, media organizations, and other national stakeholders.
- Serve as a registered lobbyist and manage ’s Legislative Disclosure Act compliance activities.
- Represent before federal regulatory bodies, including the Federal Communications Commission.
- Research elected officials and executive branch officials to support political and advocacy strategies.
- Partner with communications colleagues on policy-related communications for external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience tracking legislative and policy developments in copyright, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, or privacy.
- Existing professional networks on Capitol Hill, particularly in telecommunications or AI policy.
- Experience navigating the legislative process and supporting nonpartisan advocacy initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for policy-related external communications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, government affairs, journalism, or a related field.

- Experience representing media organizations in industry and cross-industry policy matters.
