Staff Software Engineer - New Initiatives (AI)

Location: Remote

Salary: $200,000–$235,000 base salary annually, plus bonus eligibility, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead a zero-to-one initiative from discovery and prototyping through production launch, iteration, and sustained delivery.
• Partner with clinical, policy, operations, product, and business leaders to translate oncology guidelines and workflows into reliable executable logic.
• Own architecture and hands-on development across Vue and TypeScript interfaces, Python and FastAPI services, data models, APIs, integrations, Postgres, and AWS infrastructure.
• Design and productionize LLM-powered capabilities for automated decisioning, document understanding, conversational experiences, and chat.
• Build evaluation, prompting, and guardrail patterns that make automated decisions accurate, safe, auditable, and defensible.
• Create reusable technical foundations, communicate tradeoffs, mentor engineers, and improve engineering practices.

Requirements

• Experience building, launching, and operating complex software products from initial concept through production.
• Experience leading zero-to-one or early-stage product development in ambiguous environments.
• Strong full-stack engineering experience with JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks and backend technologies comparable to Python and FastAPI.
• Experience designing APIs and data models, working with relational databases such as Postgres, and operating cloud services such as AWS.
• Experience designing and shipping reliable LLM-powered product features and using AI-enabled development tools.
• Sound architectural judgment across speed, user needs, security, reliability, and future change, plus the ability to influence product direction and mentor engineers.
