Staff Software Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Set technical direction and define the architecture and roadmap for the Agentic Ads product area.
• Build agent-powered advertiser experiences that provide recommendations and take appropriately authorized actions.
• Design extensible integrations with advertising and other external services through reliable APIs and abstractions.
• Establish measurement systems connecting product activity with business outcomes while addressing data quality, delayed feedback, and uncertainty.
• Implement financial controls, approval workflows, budget limits, auditability, observability, safe retries, reconciliation, and recovery from partial failures.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives, mentor engineers, stay hands-on with implementation, and own production quality.

Requirements

• Staff-level technical leadership on complex customer-facing products or platforms across multiple teams.
• Strong software engineering and system design skills across APIs, data modeling, distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, and customer-facing products.
• Experience operating third-party integrations under duplicate requests, partial failures, rate limits, changing schemas, and inconsistent external state.
• Practical experience shipping LLM-powered products or agentic workflows with tool use, orchestration, evaluations, and safeguards.
• Strong judgment in data measurement, experimentation, authorization, sensitive data handling, approval boundaries, and consequential actions.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role based in Foster City, California, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with advertiser-facing products, marketing automation, campaign management, growth platforms, or advertising APIs.
• Knowledge of conversion tracking, attribution, customer acquisition cost, return on ad spend, budget pacing, and incrementality measurement.
• Experience with permissioned multi-tenant products, approval workflows, budget controls, audit trails, agent tooling, or durable workflow execution.
• Experience building products for small businesses or first-time advertisers with limited budgets and sparse data.
