Claims Manager

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States; onsite role.

Salary: $95,000–$140,000 per year, with compensation varying by city and state.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Claims Associates, including workload assignment and performance management.
• Oversee claim file quality, reserve accuracy, settlement decisions, productivity, and cycle-time standards.
• Manage complex and high-exposure property, casualty, and builders risk claims from investigation through resolution.
• Coordinate claim investigations and settlements with carriers, third-party administrators, brokers, and defense counsel.
• Track claims expenses, legal spend, outstanding exposures, and team performance metrics.
• Improve claims processes, tools, workflows, training, and reporting with the Claims Director.

Requirements

• 7+ years of multi-line commercial claims experience, including at least 2 years managing or mentoring claims professionals.
• Strong knowledge of claims handling, reserving, and coverage evaluation across property, casualty, and builders risk lines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to analyze data and summarize findings clearly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Professional designations such as AIC, ARM, or CPCU and/or a claims adjuster license preferred.

• Experience in the construction, AEC, or commercial real estate industry.
• Professional claims or risk management designations.
• Claims adjuster license.
