Manager - Retirement, Financial and Education Benefits (Fintech): Designing and administering retirement, financial wellness, and education benefit programs for employees across all 50 U.S. states with an accent on plan governance, compliance, cost management, and employee engagement. Focus on leading benefits strategy, managing 401(k) and M&A processes, overseeing vendors and data integrations, and developing a growing benefits team.

Location: On-site in Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States; the role requires an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.

What you will do

  • Lead the retirement and financial wellness benefits team and develop a competitive multi-year benefits strategy.
  • Oversee design, administration, data integrations, controls, and operational risk management for retirement, financial, and education benefits.
  • Manage plan reviews, benchmarking, cost projections, budgets, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and RFPs.
  • Lead benefits due diligence and onboarding processes related to mergers and acquisitions, including 401(k) mergers and plan transitions.
  • Develop employee communications, enrollment experiences, financial wellness initiatives, and support for escalated benefits inquiries.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, including ERISA and DOL requirements, while using data and metrics to improve program effectiveness.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive benefits experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience managing or servicing 401(k) plans and completing related compliance requirements.
  • Experience with retirement benefits strategy, M&A benefits analysis, material liabilities, plan terminations, and 401(k) mergers.
  • Strong understanding of fiduciary responsibilities, retirement and investment committees, financial wellness, HR technology, analytics, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and external partners.
