Senior IT Business Analyst (Healthcare Claims)

What you will do

• Act as an IT subject matter expert for healthcare claims processes, systems, data, and technology projects.
• Analyze the end-to-end claims lifecycle, including intake, validation, adjudication, benefits, pricing, payments, adjustments, denials, and reporting.
• Gather and translate business, functional, data, integration, and reporting needs into requirements, user stories, process flows, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
• Use SQL, reports, APIs, EDI transactions, and system data to investigate issues, define mappings, validate requirements, and assess downstream impacts.
• Coordinate system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing with Claims Operations, QA, developers, and vendors.
• Lead analysis for claims technology projects, production investigations, root-cause analysis, implementation readiness, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, business, healthcare administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of experience in healthcare claims operations, claims systems analysis, business analysis, or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare claims processing and adjudication, including benefits, pricing, payments, adjustments, and related data flows.
• Experience analyzing claims data, researching processing issues, validating system outcomes, and facilitating requirements sessions.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational data concepts, with strong analytical, documentation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Understanding of healthcare data privacy, HIPAA, security controls, auditability, and protected health information.

Nice to have

• Experience with a third-party administrator, health plan, claims administrator, healthcare network, or claims technology vendor.
• Familiarity with VBA Claims Software, X12 healthcare transactions, claims platform configuration, vendor integrations, reporting, or data reconciliation.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, Power BI, SQL Server, APIs, or ETL processes.
