Thermal Lead Design Release Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid role based in Warren, Michigan, with attendance at the assigned location at least 3 times per week. Domestic travel is expected, with travel requirements stated as up to approximately 5% and elsewhere as less than 25%.

What you will do

• Lead product development and integration of thermal system components and subsystems for assigned vehicle programs.
• Lead the thermal product development team and coordinate component DREs, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering groups.
• Own subsystem-level thermal performance, cabin comfort, powertrain thermal management, cooling performance, and related attribute delivery.
• Resolve high-risk system-level issues, manage JIRA PRTS actions, and drive optimized solutions across performance, cost, mass, timing, packaging, energy efficiency, and vehicle integration.
• Ensure design compliance, peer review completion, validation status, supplier deliverables, and program milestone execution.
• Review warranty, JD Power, and Compass data, develop cost optimization changes, and share thermal technology lessons with global subsystem leadership.

Requirements

• Experience with system-level thermal design, performance ownership, and integration of underhood and in-cabin vehicle systems.
• Ability to lead, coach, and mentor DREs and suppliers while coordinating with engineering, manufacturing, validation, safety, HVAC, propulsion, electrical, purchasing, and vehicle integration teams.
• Experience with design studies, alternative analyses, issue resolution, program milestones, and engineering release processes.
• Must be able to work in the United States and report to the Warren, Michigan location under the hybrid attendance requirement.
