Histotechnician (Histology)

Location: Richland, Washington, United States; onsite work. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.; rotating weekends and overtime may be required.

Pay: $24.00–$32.00 per hour, plus second-shift differentials.

What you will do

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination.
• Produce histopathological slides by embedding tissue, performing microtomy, mounting sections, and applying routine and special stains.
• Perform immunohistochemical testing on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
• Prepare stains and reagents and operate, maintain, and document manual and automated laboratory instruments.
• Perform quality control, preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and equipment log documentation.
• Report accurate and timely test results while following specimen handling, analysis, and reporting procedures.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• Knowledge of routine histology procedures and equipment, including embedding and microtomy.
• Ability to embed large and small specimens and work independently and collaboratively in a high-volume laboratory.
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position and pass a standardized color-blindness test.

Nice to have

• At least three months of histology experience.
• At least three months of immunohistochemistry experience.
• Histology and/or ASCP certification.
• Bachelor’s degree.
