Distinguished Technologist – Pre-Sales AI & Data Center Networking (AI)

Location: Winnersh, Berkshire, United Kingdom. Hybrid work with an average requirement of two days per week from an HPE office; willingness to travel up to 50%, including international travel on short notice.

What you will do

• Act as the primary technical architect during complex sales cycles, translating business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Architect end-to-end networking infrastructure for data centers, AI networking, hyperscale environments, and WAN technologies.
• Lead solution design and customization by coordinating specialists, systems engineers, and product teams.
• Deliver demonstrations, proofs of concept, technical presentations, and live walkthroughs for customer use cases.
• Engage hyperscalers, large enterprises, service providers, and technology partners to co-design solutions.
• Develop architecture playbooks and enablement materials, influence technical strategy, and mentor technologists and sales engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• 15+ years of technical experience in network infrastructure architecture, design, and solutions consulting, including large-scale AI, cloud, data center, and hyperscale networking environments.
• 15+ years of industry experience with JunOS, EOS, IOS, and hyperscale network architecture frameworks; JNCIE or an equivalent certification.
• Hands-on expertise with hyperscale routing, MPLS traffic engineering, switching, SDN overlays including EVPN/VXLAN and MP-BGP, network fabrics, DCI solutions, provisioning, automation, and monitoring using Apstra, Paragon, NETCONF/REST APIs, and YANG.
• Familiarity with networking silicon, hardware platforms, and related software such as Juniper, Arista, Cisco, SONiC, and Cumulus.
• Subject-matter expertise in x86 virtualization and scaling technologies such as DPDK, SR-IOV, and SmartNICs.
• Proven success in complex pre-sales roles and the ability to build relationships with senior technical and C-level stakeholders.
• Experience with programming and scripting, including Python, APIs, and JSON, for solution integration and automation.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, plus experience creating playbooks and delivering demonstrations for complex networking products, solutions, tools, and services.
• Experience preparing RFP and tender responses covering compliance, bills of materials, commercial and pricing information, and solution documents.
