Senior Hardware Engineer - Infrastructure

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office-based roles are onsite Tuesday through Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $243,290–$295,250 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Drive server hardware development through feasibility studies, platform bring-up, validation, deployment, and production support.
• Integrate platforms and optimize performance through hardware tuning, driver configuration, and thermal and power-efficiency analysis.
• Design and execute stress-testing and evaluation strategies for production-scale server workloads.
• Qualify BIOS and BMC firmware, implement hardware health monitoring, and build automation for firmware deployment and lifecycle management.
• Investigate component- and system-level failures across hardware, drivers, firmware, and kernel layers with vendors and infrastructure teams.
• Lead cross-functional hardware projects with Data Center Operations, Supply Chain, SRE, and external vendors.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in hardware engineering, system architecture, or infrastructure validation.
• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of Linux-based server environments, data center technologies, PCIe, NVMe, Ethernet/InfiniBand, memory subsystems, and accelerator platforms.
• Hands-on experience validating CPU, memory, storage, and high-speed networking subsystems in Linux.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for validation tooling and automation scripts.
• Strong remote debugging skills, including kernel logs, hardware registers, and bus-level traces or captures.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with GPU platforms, AI accelerators, or high-performance computing systems.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to data centers or vendor sites for hardware deployments and first-of-a-kind builds.
