ASIC Firmware and Diagnostic Intern

Location: Hybrid, with an average requirement of 2 days per week from an HPE office in Wisconsin, United States

Salary: USD 35.00–40.25 per hour in Wisconsin, United States

What you will do

• Write, test, and debug C firmware for Slingshot ASIC boards.
• Develop and maintain Python diagnostic tools, data collectors, parsers, and test utilities.
• Create Bash scripts for automation, build processes, and test harnesses.
• Design, implement, and run automated tests and diagnostic workflows for firmware validation.
• Work in a Linux environment, use Git, participate in code reviews, and document code, test plans, results, and user guides.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to implement features and resolve issues.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Working knowledge of C, Python, Bash, and Linux.
• Problem-solving, debugging, analytical, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Git or another version control system.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement, averaging 2 days per week from an HPE office in Wisconsin.

Nice to have

• Embedded development experience through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
• Exposure to RTOS, device drivers, microcontrollers, or embedded systems concepts.
• Understanding of build systems and continuous integration.
• Experience with JTAG, I2C, SPI, automated testing frameworks, or test automation scripting.
