Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Build the security roadmap, standards and risk register with the Head of Technology and Security.
• Assess and improve cloud security across network architecture, IAM, secrets management, logging and posture management.
• Harden infrastructure, review infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines, and implement controls across identity, endpoint, network and data protection.
• Lead vulnerability assessments, penetration-test engagements, application security reviews and remediation with engineering teams.
• Lead incident detection, investigation, response and root-cause analysis while improving business continuity and recovery procedures.
• Drive security automation, access governance, compliance processes and security collaboration across technology and business teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on cybersecurity experience across application and infrastructure security.
• Strong cloud security knowledge covering IAM, network security, logging, secrets management and posture tooling.
• Practical experience with enterprise security tools such as EDR, IAM, firewalls, SASE, SIEM or vulnerability management platforms.
• Experience identifying and remediating production vulnerabilities, managing security risks and communicating technical risk to leadership.
• Exposure to Essential Eight, SOC 2, ISO 27001 or similar cybersecurity frameworks.
• Right to live and work in Melbourne, Australia.

Nice to have

• Penetration testing across web applications, APIs, networks and cloud environments.
• Security automation, workflow platforms, PAM and database security experience.
• Knowledge of Australian privacy obligations and UK/EU data protection requirements, including GDPR.
• Experience mentoring junior security staff or working in SaaS, maritime, logistics or data-intensive environments.
• OSCP, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, GIAC, cloud security certification or a relevant tertiary qualification.
