Senior Threat & Attack Researcher (Cybersecurity)

Location: Canberra, ACT, Australia; hybrid arrangement with three days in the office and two days remote or at home. Applications are currently limited to Australian Citizens.

What you will do

• Research and track threat tactics, techniques, procedures, tooling, infrastructure, and geopolitical drivers relevant to the organisation.
• Identify opportunities to detect, disrupt, deny, obstruct, and block malicious activity through proactive countermeasures.
• Analyse malware samples and code, including functionality, behaviour, propagation methods, and evasion techniques.
• Produce threat intelligence assessments and briefings for technical and non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Support incident response investigations and collaborate with partners to share intelligence and tradecraft.
• Lead research and capability uplift initiatives, mentor junior colleagues, and maintain scalable processes and tools.

Requirements

• Australian citizenship is required.
• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in computer science, information systems, engineering, or cybersecurity.
• At least five years of experience in Cyber Threat Intelligence or a related cybersecurity role.
• Detailed knowledge of offensive operations, attack techniques, and geopolitical drivers.
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python for automation and custom tooling.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, risk-focused messaging.
