Process Engineer FIB/TEM Operations (Semiconductor Metrology)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; travel required up to 10% of the time

What you will do

• Lead quality improvement initiatives within the FIB/TEM quality framework to improve consistency, repeatability, and operational performance.
• Develop quality standards, acceptance criteria, metrics, and best practices for FIB/TEM operations.
• Analyze quality and operational data, identify bottlenecks, and drive corrective actions that improve throughput, cycle time, capacity, and lab efficiency.
• Partner with hardware and equipment teams, suppliers, engineers, technicians, customers, and partner laboratories to improve tool capability, calibration, availability, and consistency.
• Lead or support projects involving workflow optimization, automation, tool expansion, and operational effectiveness.
• Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders and translate business-unit requirements into practical quality and process improvements.

Requirements

• BS or higher degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of experience in semiconductor metrology, characterization, process engineering, quality engineering, failure analysis, or laboratory operations.
• Hands-on experience operating FIB and/or TEM/STEM in a laboratory or semiconductor environment.
• Experience driving quality improvements through metrics, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, or process standardization.
• Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder-management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with both FIB sample preparation and TEM/STEM imaging.
• Experience supporting FIB/TEM laboratory operations or semiconductor manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with SPC, MSA, DOE, Six Sigma, data analytics, automation, or digital transformation initiatives.
