Software Development Manager (AI)

Location: Fully remote across Canada, or hybrid from the Edmonton, Alberta office

What you will do

• Lead Software Developers and Scrum Masters responsible for a contract platform and internal CMS editor experience.
• Set technical direction, make architecture and technology decisions, and develop technical roadmaps with Product Owners and stakeholders.
• Coach team members, manage performance and career development, and support hiring, onboarding, and day-to-day people management.
• Manage delivery scope, schedules, estimates, dependencies, risks, releases, rollout readiness, rollback planning, and incident response.
• Strengthen practices for web applications, APIs, data models, automated testing, CI/CD, security, and production troubleshooting.
• Introduce practical AI workflows for investigation, prototyping, code review, testing, documentation, delivery analysis, and developer enablement.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Computing Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience leading software development teams and at least 7 years in software development, architecture, or technical delivery.
• Experience managing projects, priorities, processes, and technical delivery in a software development environment.
• Strong technical judgment across web applications, APIs, data models, automated testing, CI/CD, security, and production troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience using AI platforms, agents, or related tools in real software engineering work, including validating AI-generated output and identifying risks.
• Strong business communication, stakeholder collaboration, technical judgment, and familiarity with Agile delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, C#/.NET, Vue, SQL Server, and Entity Framework Core.
• Experience introducing reusable AI workflows, engineering playbooks, developer enablement practices, or broader AI adoption initiatives.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol or similar approaches for connecting AI tools to engineering or product workflows.
