Software Engineer - Product (AI Teammates Platform Team)

Location: San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule; in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Wednesdays may be worked from home, while Friday remote work depends on the role and team.

Base salary: $171,000–$190,000 per year, plus potential equity, sales incentive pay where applicable, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build the execution engine and platform layer behind autonomous AI Teammates.
• Develop model evaluation and rollout systems, proactive blocked-work detection, and execution-quality infrastructure.
• Implement tool orchestration and platform APIs used across Asana engineering.
• Work with asynchronous jobs and algorithms that efficiently traverse the Asana Work Graph.
• Improve storage-layer systems for representing, storing, and deleting data.
• Partner with legal and cross-functional stakeholders to implement data ownership rules and deliver large-scale product features.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience working in large, well-maintained codebases.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with product, design, legal, and other cross-functional partners.
• Sound judgment when balancing delivery speed, code quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Attention to detail and a focus on creating an exceptional user experience.
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with willingness to apply them to improve productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
• Ability to work according to the San Francisco office-centric hybrid schedule.
