Staff Software Engineer, Product (AI)

Location: Remote in the Americas

Starting salary: $200,000–$280,000 USD annually, or equivalent in local currency, depending on experience and market rates. A 10% annual bonus target also applies.

What you will do

• Own ambiguous, high-impact problems from initial framing through launch and iteration.
• Partner with product, design, and data to define priorities, scope, and success metrics.
• Lead technical decisions across the stack, including architecture, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Coordinate complex initiatives across teams and systems, resolving technical disagreements and building alignment.
• Improve engineering practices through mentorship, reusable patterns, documentation, and technical guidance.
• Use AI in engineering workflows, evaluate its output, identify automation opportunities, and participate in the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Track record of leading complex work across teams or systems and delivering meaningful outcomes.
• Strong backend engineering experience with the ability to work across the stack.
• Strong product and technical judgment in ambiguous situations.
• Ability to influence experienced peers and align teams without formal authority.
• Experience using metrics, experimentation, and observability to guide decisions and improve production systems.
• Hands-on use of AI across the software development lifecycle, with accountability for quality, security, and outcomes.
