Research Chemist (Personal Care)

Location: Hybrid in Princeton, New Jersey, USA; in-person attendance required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with remote work available on Mondays and Fridays.

Salary: $71,000–$101,100 annual U.S. base salary, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Conduct bench-top formulation and development of personal care and OTC products.
• Design and execute laboratory experiments, evaluate formulas, perform stability testing, and analyze results.
• Maintain product and raw material specifications, experimental procedures, databases, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate testing with internal service groups and external laboratories.
• Analyze consumer feedback and support product ideation, claims substantiation, feasibility assessments, risk reviews, and stage-gate evaluations.
• Represent Product Development on cross-functional teams and support product release and commercialization activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in personal care, cosmetics, OTC, consumer packaged goods, or related product development.
• Understanding of personal care and OTC formulation science, ingredient functionality, and product performance testing.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced innovation environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and scientific data management systems.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Experience with topical products, sprays, emulsions, hydroalcoholic systems, skin-benefit ingredients, or OTC active ingredients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
