Chemist (Cosmetic Formulation)

Location: Onsite at 50 Clearview Road, Edison, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $60,000–$68,000 annually, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Review product development requests, clarify requirements with Sales Executives, and manage projects from concept through completion.
• Formulate OTC and non-OTC personal care, skincare, haircare, and sun care products using appropriate ingredients and processes.
• Prepare laboratory batches, collect customer feedback, and reformulate and resubmit products as needed.
• Conduct stability testing, troubleshoot formulation issues, and optimize product performance, cost efficiency, and manufacturing effectiveness.
• Develop laboratory-scale manufacturing processes and maintain complete R&D documentation in line with GLP standards.
• Collaborate with Regulatory, Manufacturing, customers, and Sales Executives while supporting junior chemists and new hires.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in cosmetic formulation development and R&D.
• Experience developing and modifying personal care, skincare, and haircare formulations.
• Knowledge of formulation troubleshooting, stability testing, laboratory best practices, FDA, CTFA, PCPC, and cGMP requirements.
• Experience supporting scale-up activities and working with Regulatory and Manufacturing teams.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
