TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer / Model-Based Systems Engineering Lead (MBSE/Aerospace): Leading requirements engineering, SysML architecture modeling, interface definition, integration, and verification for Naval Aviation survivability and electronic warfare systems with an accent on aircraft integration, cybersecurity, and mission-critical defense platforms. Focus on developing traceable requirements, coordinating complex hardware and software interfaces, supporting qualification and verification, and resolving cross-organizational engineering challenges.

Location: Approximately 75% remote, but must reside near Patuxent River, Maryland, or King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, for weekly in-person meetings and access to SCIFs. Travel a few times per year is required.

hirify.global provides engineering and technical support for Naval Aviation defense programs, including aircraft survivability, electronic warfare, integration, and sustainment.

What you will do

  • Lead systems engineering support for NAVAIR aircraft survivability and electronic warfare programs, including the AN/ALE-47 Common Carriage system and iASE Programmer.
  • Develop, decompose, allocate, trace, and verify requirements across hardware, software, interfaces, cybersecurity, integration, and validation activities.
  • Develop and maintain SysML system architecture, requirements, interface, and black-box/white-box models using MBSE tools.
  • Analyze electrical, data, control, communication, aircraft power, secure connectivity, and mission-data interfaces.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity, configuration management, integration, qualification, testing, laboratory activities, and aircraft integration with government and industry stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical briefings, trade studies, risk assessments, engineering recommendations, and decision-support materials while providing technical leadership and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline, plus at least 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional experience with systems engineering for complex hardware and software systems, including requirements, architecture, interfaces, integration, validation, and verification.
  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, SysML, MBSE practices, or comparable architecture and requirements-management tools.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical subjects, lead technical meetings independently, resolve cross-organizational issues, and provide defensible recommendations.
  • Must reside near Patuxent River, Maryland, or King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and attend weekly in-person meetings and SCIF access activities.
  • Must hold an active U.S. Government Secret clearance or be currently eligible to obtain one.

Nice to have

  • Experience with NAVAIR, Naval Air Systems Command, Department of War aviation programs, aircraft survivability equipment, electronic warfare, avionics, mission systems, or embedded airborne hardware.
  • Experience with the AN/ALE-47 system or similar aircraft survivability systems and related platform, laboratory, qualification, electromagnetic-interference, or verification activities.
  • Experience with Teamwork Cloud, UAF, DOORS, Jama, requirements traceability and verification matrices, cybersecurity engineering, Risk Management Framework activities, secure communications, logistics engineering, or sustainment deliverables.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance or current eligibility to obtain one.
