Director, Legal – Product and Regulatory (Fintech)

Location: Remote in Canada

Salary: CA$220,000–CA$260,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead practical legal and regulatory support for hirify.global Tech and hirify.global Bank.
• Advise on the design and launch of retail banking products and financial features.
• Support the establishment and operation of a regulated bank and engagement with OSFI, FCAC, and the Bank of Canada.
• Advise Marketing, Growth, customer-facing, Risk, Compliance, Product, and Technology teams on regulatory, consumer protection, complaints, communications, and fairness matters.
• Build scalable legal, regulatory, and knowledge-management processes.
• Mentor Legal team members and represent Legal in cross-functional and leadership forums.

Requirements

• 10+ years of post-call legal experience in Canada, including substantial in-house experience.
• Direct experience advising on retail banking product launches, financial services regulation, banking law, and consumer protection.
• Experience leading complex legal or regulatory initiatives with significant autonomy.
• Ability to provide practical, business-oriented advice to senior stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial, pragmatic, collaborative, solutions-oriented, and comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change.
• Technical curiosity and interest in using AI and technology to improve legal work and business processes.

Nice to have

• Experience at both a large bank and a technology startup or fintech, including bank charter or launch experience.
• Direct regulator engagement, lobbying, or government relations experience.
• Familiarity with the RPAA and Financial Consumer Protection Framework.
• AML advisory experience, privacy law implementation, or experience mentoring junior legal counsel.
• Fluent French.
