Senior Backend Engineer (Payment)

Location: Paris, France; hybrid position

What you will do

• Deliver complex, cross-functional technical projects from design through deployment.
• Finalize and scale the payment orchestrator and integrate payment methods adapted to different countries.
• Improve platform reliability through automation, observability, SLO reviews, monitoring, and alerting.
• Coordinate requirements and cross-team impacts with Legal, Finance, Fraud, and Payment Operations.
• Mentor mid-level developers and raise engineering standards.
• Participate in mandatory cyclic on-call duty, approximately one week every seven weeks, for critical payment systems.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of overall engineering experience.
• Strong technical autonomy, critical thinking, and deep understanding of software architecture and constraints.
• Fluent Java and advanced knowledge of Spring or Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with service-oriented architectures, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and Datadog monitoring.
• Excellent clear and concise communication with technical and business stakeholders.
• Mandatory willingness to participate in on-call duties.
• Full working proficiency in English.
