Staff Software Engineer (AI Backend Services)

What you will do

• Define the technical strategy and architecture for Python-based AI backend platforms using FastAPI.
• Design scalable, reliable, and secure AWS systems with Lambda and EKS for generative AI applications and LLM integrations.
• Build and improve AI observability using LangChain, Langfuse, and litellm.
• Establish standards for monitoring, logging, operational excellence, performance, security, and scalability.
• Lead cross-functional technical initiatives, identify technical debt and bottlenecks, and drive long-term architectural solutions.
• Mentor engineers, lead architecture and code reviews, and influence engineering practices across the organization.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with extensive backend and distributed systems expertise.
• Expert-level Python proficiency and strong experience with FastAPI, asynchronous Python, and high-performance backend systems.
• Deep understanding of LLMs, generative AI architectures, AI infrastructure, and APIs such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
• Experience architecting scalable platforms on AWS and working with microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud-native patterns, MLOps, model deployment, and AI system reliability.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD automation, and platform engineering.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing engineering culture and technical standards.
• Published technical work, open-source contributions, or recognized expertise in AI backend systems.
