System Architect (MDDI/MBSE)

Location: Remote, associated with Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, United States; U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one are required.

What you will do

• Lead system, operational, data, and integration architecture using MBSE and DoDAF/UAF frameworks.
• Develop and maintain SysML/UML models covering requirements, interfaces, workflows, data, and end-to-end mission threads with full traceability.
• Drive digital engineering strategy, including digital thread adoption, authoritative models, and model-driven decision making.
• Translate business, operational, and technical requirements into scalable architectures for enterprise systems and integrations.
• Define integration patterns, interface specifications, interoperability requirements, technical baselines, and architecture governance standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, functional, and program teams on risks, dependencies, roadmaps, transition planning, and implementation strategies.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
• At least 7 years of experience designing enterprise, system, or solution architectures in DoD or comparable environments.
• Systems engineering experience decomposing complex systems and modeling structure, behavior, interfaces, and data.
• Working knowledge of SysML/UML and MBSE tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, Sparx EA, Rhapsody, or GENESYS.
• Familiarity with DoDAF, UAF, or similar architecture frameworks, plus strong technical communication and briefing skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Five or more years of hands-on MBSE or digital engineering experience in complex systems environments.
• Experience with DoD logistics, transportation, ERP modernization, COTS/ERP integration, or business process reengineering.
• Experience with cloud architectures, DevSecOps, or DoD zero trust environments such as AWS GovCloud and IL4/IL5.
• Relevant certifications such as INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, OCSMP, TOGAF, SAFe, AWS, or Azure.
• DoD acquisition lifecycle, federal agency, customer, vendor, data standards, or Department of War experience.
